What's Your Favourite Type Of Pic ?
I have just been looking through the top 9 most viewed images. Believe it or not, but in 6 of them the cigarette isn't lit ( or is getting lit ), which begs the questions - is that the most preferred type of pic ? I do like light up pics myself, think the whole cigarette looks sexier than a half smoked one. Or do you prefer pics where the smoker is inhaling ? exhaling ? dangling ? or whatever ?

I need to jump on the bandwagon and say that the best kind of holder images are those done IRL by those who take pictures of people candidly or even those done by folks who aren't pros. Throughout the years we all have seen a decent cross section of women who use them in photos, most of which came from the media, whether it be in film, tv, magazine, etc. Don't get me wrong, those are good, but nothing beats ones like those from the ever famous Caren and even the now banned Southern Charms ladies. Since both are no longer here, we are left with much less to have here.
I have quite a few pics in my own collection, as I have done photography in the past, and now am concentrating on the digital art aspect utilizing my figures in relevant context, making them as real as possible and also that it's all original work, not reproductions or copies from other places. :)

Great to have you back CD and full of life by the looks of it. I for one am dying to see some of your new work so feel free to share it with the site. Personally speaking I just love any picture that depicts a holder being used and wish that holder smoking would be reintroduced to the present lifestyles of the smoking classes.
Looking back at the roaring twenties where ladies used them as a fashion accessory it beggars belief that they are used less frequently now but that is maybe more to do with the negativity surrounding the health aspects of smoking than their visual appreciation.
Welcome back CD.
I prefer to see a 5-6inch black holder with a cigarette freshly lit amd the lady drawing on it
There are really 2 things I look for in a holder pic. One is the length of the holder. In my case, the longer the better. The other is if there is more than one woman smoking at the same time. Pics with more than one holder user are hard to find.
I agree with most people about the color and length of a cigarette holder: 5-8 inches length; black or gold in color. Cigarette lit but not smoked all the way down.
But ultimately, a cigarette holder is a prop, the sexiness or elegance of the picture comes from: 1) the pose, 2) costuming, 3) makeup, and always 4) the attractiveness of the lady using it.
Take a look at the images from that brief segment at the beginning of Fail Safe (the 1964 original), with Nancy Berg tonguing sensuously at her cigarette holder while she listens to Walter Matthau talk about thermonuclear war. Next time you see one of the still, look at her pose, she has her head tilted down, so she's looking out from under how eyelashes. A classic 'bedroom eyes' pose. Also, the vicious way she bites at the mouthpiece of her cigarette holder adds a lot.
I like a pose with the lady holding the cigarette holder to her lips. 'Caren' style dangles are also a winner.
Costuming? An elegant evening gown in black (Audrey Hepburn look) or red is always good. My special favorite's: A lady in a cheongsam, one of those slinky oriental sheaths, preferably in black or red. Also, tight, black pants - reminds me of the 1950's.
A special turn-on for me is a lady with glasses and a cigarette holder. She can be in an evening gown or tight pants and a silky blouse. I like the sophisticated intellectual look.
I do like a lot of make-up. Eye makeup and red (or other dark color) lipstick. I like either the 40's/50's vamp look or the Goth (dark eye and lip makeup) look.
Another real turn-on is a dominatrix using a long cigarette holder in a domination scene. Human ashtray scenes are a turn-off; but almost everything else works for me. One of my all-time favorites is a sequence from a video with the famed 'Mistress Antoinette.' She was reclining on a chaise lounge, smoking a cigarette in a long, black holder, while a slave chained at her feet licked her thigh-length, high-heeled boots. Drool!
To my taste lit or unlit are as good.Id rather prefer an unlight to an half smoke and most are right gynocological shots are a big turn off.for color black is an classic and the worst are the turkish ones, lenght is a matter of discussion 5-8 inches is alright but at time certain ppl are more appropriate in other lenght short or very long.
Let's see, that's a pretty long list: IRL of course, even though they're very rare these days, flapper party pics are about as close as we come usually.
I like IRL pics to be lit, especially if they're at parties. Burned down and long ashes are NOT sexy. Favorite holder is say 5-8 inches, all black, though different styles and lengths can work also. Least favorite holder: the ultra cheap costume ones, with the exception of the extendable audrey hepburn metal ones, which can be quite nice (plus they really work too). Dommes are also much welcome and your general femme fatale types.
Least favorite: internet whores, in general. Most are a) not very attractive b) have no style in general c) don't know how to use a holder. Included with the internet whores are all gynocological shots, in general.
Great discussion question Sue.
For me personally, its the picture as a whole over parts. I like an artistic shot either IRL or studio type as long as its artistic.
I prefer all whites to corks, for me it reminds me of old glamour.
Longer cigarettes (usually not smoked down below half) are way better than the down to the nub shots.
I prefer a longer holder 6 inches and beyond though if the picture is artfull a shorter holder is acceptable. I generally don't like gold or silver two tone holders.
Crooked cigarettes are an instant turn off as said above, it ruins the lines. Same with cork's for me btw.
I like lit cigarettes though a lightup can be nice as well. Just holding with no action of a un-lit cigarette seems a waste.
One big thing for me is the "costume" holders the are horrifically ugly.
I like to see an inhale (either snap or something along those lines) with the trail of smoke from the cherry, thats an instant turn on for me.
I also like to see long gloves along with a holder pic. It adds to the elegance (usually)
One last bit. I suppose this goes with my first observation. In a shot I like to see a girl who is comfortable with holding/smoking with the holder. You can always tell when a shot features someone who doesn't really smoke, or is using a holder for the first time.
I enjoy seeing IRL pictures best.
I judge it by looking at the entire presentation. I especially favor an elegant look and the professional woman look (i.e.business attire). Light up pictures are always welcomed. I do not particularly like pictures in which the woman is in various states of undress. Iam not enamored when the photo shows the woman to have tatoos.
Regarding the length of the holder 4-6" seems best to me. Black, white or gold the colors I favor.
I do not mind a half smoked cigarette as long as it doesn't have an unruly ash at the end of it. I prefer pictures of inhaling or dangling.

Great set of questions, Sue! Here are my answers:
1. Favorite: shiny black holder, 5 - 7" long, with an all-white cigarette
2. Lit or not-lit isn't crucial to the sexiness of the photo
3. If lit, then the picture's appeal goes up if the lady is inhaling on the holder
4 Two HUGE turn-offs are cigarettes that have been smoked down nearly to the filter and cigarettes that are crooked in the holder. The cigarette should continue along the same plane as the holder!!
5. A special treat is a lady placing the holder into another person's mouth for them to inhale from
6. More attributes for a favorite photo: latex outfits and boots, preferably shiny thigh-high ones
Okay, there are my opinions; now, who's next to respond?
:-)
A whole cigarette always looks better than a half smoked, I think exhaling is probably my personal fav so long as their not being too obscured by the cloud. I probably find dangeling the least appealing as it takes away some of the glamour
Personally, my favorite type of holder picture usually has a dangle...and definitely not the F.D.R. type dangle!!
