Is There An Error?

I may have the permissions wrong. If so, I apologize.

But on the main menu, I set up a link that says "Add A Gallery". I can see it. I have a separate account that's not an admin account and I can see it there too. Yet people are asking how to add a gallery. Is the link invisible to people? Seriously, please let me know.

How to view galleries

Ok, this is how to view the old galleries

if you click on the "Old Gallery" link and log in with the same username and password as you do for the site, you should be able to see them. Any old gallery that has already been converted is in the link "Galleries" and is deleted from the old gallery. New users don't have accounts that allow them to see the old galleries.

Sorry about that, everyone. It was a rough week last week, but it's all behind us and I have some ideas stewing to get things jumping around here.

Slow Speed?

Is it just me, or is the site running slow again?

When the host company moved the server from Pennsylvania to Los Angeles, the speed stablized. They have since moved it back to Pennsylvania without informing me and it seems to be running slow again. It's hard for me to tell because I have really crappy Internet at home. Please respond to this message with your experiences. I have three servers, so if this one is running slow, I can move the site to the Canadian one.

Update #1 - Nov 26 2011

I've moved over the Small Contributions albums. It took longer than usual because my Internet connection is flaky & slow today. I'll hit the User Albums on Saturday as time permits. Those will require something from the people who own them, which I'll explain later.

The basic site setup is pretty much in place. I'll be adding some features that will allow you to search for pictures, add tags (keywords), and show some graphics on the front page. That may take a little time. I have two other websites needing my attention and a server down. (It's close to me and I'll have to hike up the side of a mountain to get to it. Bad hard drive.) I hope you all have a great weekend.

Welcome To The New Site!

I did a test upgrade this morning and everything went so smoothly that I decided to just bite the bullet and switch over to the test site! The only thing that didn't make it over was the Video pages. That's because they use a CCK field format that's not supported in Drupal 7. No big deal, because Youtube linking is supported in the new Media Gallery.

The new system works by allowing users to create their own galleries. That was the original intent of Holdergals, with the "Small Contributions" album intended for people who just wanted to add one or two images without me having to create an album for them. With the new system, your album (called a "gallery" here) is creating automatically when you upload an image. Less work on both our ends.

Anyway, everything besides the video pages made it over, so kick the tires and let me know if you find any issues.

I'll be adding the original Gallery2 gallery later, then start migrating the images over to new Media Galleries here.

The Return of SmokerGals.Net

I'm planning to upgrade this website from Drupal 6 to Drupal 7. That's not as easy as you might think. A lot can go wrong, but I know that Drupal 6 is getting a bit long in the tooth.

So I'm working with Drupal 7 on http://www.smokergals.net. Smokergals is like this site, but includes images of cigarettes, cigars, cigarette holders, etc. And it looks pretty nice on the new software. So if you'd like to get in on the ground floor, pop on over and join. It should be fun!

Welcome To The New Server

The gallery and the website both seem to be running fine. If you come across any issues, please comment here to let me know. Do NOT contact me via the mail system. That's still not up and running yet. It's 3 AM here, so I'll probably do that late Wednesday afternoon. I appreciate everyone's patience with this.

UPDATE: The mail server is working! Everything should be Kosher now. If you find any issues, please let me know. I'll try to stay on top of email better than I usually do for a few days until I'm sure the server is OK.

New Server (Again)

First of all, let me thank Sue for her hard work here. If not for her, the site would have sputtered away and her efforts are ALWAYS appreciated.

Now, thank you to those who responded to my message about the latency issue. I've managed to convince the server host that a new server is needed and they will be setting one up for me at a different data center, either tonight or tomorrow. That means moving all the data again and I apologize for the slow performance here.
